“Nuanced and assured…Rebecca Pidgeon is one of those rare singers who conveys emotion purely…”
Rolling Stone Magazine
Rebecca Pidgeon was born in Cambridge, MA and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, gravitating towards music as a child. Her parents introduced her to the likes of the Beatles and Joni Mitchell, while she discovered diverse British artists in the late ‘70’s into the ‘80’s from Kate Bush to The Sex Pistols on her own.
She fronted the band Ruby Blue on indie label Red Flame Records and then with Polygram UK before relocating to the United States where she launched her solo career.
Fan favorite albums followed including The Raven (1994), The New York Girls’ Club (1996) Four Marys (1998), Tough On Crime (2000), and Behind the Velvet Curtain (2008), four songs appearing in the critically acclaimed film Red Belt.
The ensuing decade saw her release Slingshot (2011), Blue Dress On (2013), Bad Poetry (2014), and Sudden Exposure to Light (2019). Praising the latter, American Songwriter wrote, “She’s the real deal,” and Glide Magazine noted, “Pidgeon’s prolific work as a songwriter and vocalist is akin to the self-immersion she undertakes for her mesmerizing performances on camera.”
Recent albums include: Parts of Speech Pieces of Sound (2023) which …”shares aesthetic space with the ambitious, elaborate, cinematic work that made Kate Bush an icon, tempered with the hypnotic, atmosphere dream scaping that artists like Weyes Blood and FKA Twigs have drawn from Enya” and Songs of L.A. (2024) which sonically is bright and rock oriented, a return to Pidgeon’s indie rock beginnings.
On her 12th album, Unillusion (2025) recorded primarily at Forward Motion Studios in Los Angeles with producer Fernando Perdomo, she explores an organic soundscape harking back to her folk-rock roots
Pidgeon is also an actress and can be seen in this season’s Euphoria on HBO, and in the upcoming movie Speed the Plow.
