Carla Olson co~founded the Textones with Kathy Valentine, recorded duo albums with two of rock’s most beloved and iconic figures, Gene Clark and Mick Taylor, was featured in Bob Dylan’s first video, Sweetheart Like You, has recorded with Eric Clapton and John Fogerty, written music, with estate permission, to poems by Brian Jones and Jim Morrison and produced a wide range of artists including albums by Paul Jones (of Manfred Mann), Phil Upchurch, Joe Louis Walker and Mare Winningham. She’s also released a series of her own albums beginning in the early 1980’s as well as a recent duet album with Stephen McCarthy.
Tonight we are celebrating Carla’s latest album ~ Have Harmony, Will Travel 3.
As with the two previous volumes of the HHWT series Carla produces, sings and plays but she also features other artists some of whom will join her at McCabe’s.
Robert Rex Waller Jr. is a singer and songwriter best known for his work over the last 20+ years as the lead singer with the critically acclaimed country rock band, I See Hawks in L.A. Dave Alvin has called the Hawks “one of California’s unique treasures” and Michael Simmons of MOJO magazine named them “the finest country rock band on the planet.” Waller’s second solo album, See The Big Man Cry, was produced by Carla Olson and is set to be released on October 20th, 2023. Waller and Carla Olson have been collaborating on stage and in the studio for years. See The Big Man Cry is the culmination of their collaboration, and the second time Waller has recorded an album under his own name. In his solo work, Waller enjoys experimenting with new genres and exploring the work of songwriters and vocalists he admires.
