Although born in 1989, the young bluesman has earned a reputation for
transporting audiences back to the 1920s and making them wish they
could stay there for good. Paxton sings and plays banjo, guitar,
piano, fiddle, harmonica, Cajun accordion, and the bones. He has an
eerie ability to transform traditional jazz, blues, folk, and country
into the here and now, while simultaneously mesmerizing audiences with
his humor and storytelling. He’s a world class talent and a uniquely
colorful character who’s been featured on the cover of both Living
Blues Magazine and the Village Voice. Like a young Ry Cooder, Jerrod
used to hang out in our shop after school, and like Cooder, would
attract a fair crowd every time he started playing in our front room.
We knew he was a special talent then, and now, having traveled the
country for the past year, and now invited to join Dave Alvin on his
annual Riding The Rails summer tour, Paxton’s star is noticeably on
the rise.
