McCabe's, The Virtual Tour

Courtesy of Ford Lowcock and Bruce Fier, we have some new and cool panoramic (as in all the way around) views of the shop. You'll need to have a recent version of Quicktime installed to view them.

front room

This is our majestic front room and work area. The full image should open up to a view of Nancy playing a charango behind the counter. Our front door will be on your left (at about 11 o'clock) with the repair department behind you. That's John with the beard. You can also get a peek down one of our hallways, which you'll see more of later.

Here's what you'll find at the other end of that hallway. Our scene opens with Jelly Roll Morton gazing at a student cello, and the hallway is on your left. Just ahead and to the right is a small sampling of the hundreds of guitars on display in our back room, as well as a guitarron hiding behind a couple of hammer dulcimers.

Now we're smack dab in the middle of that same hallway looking at a bunch of violins. The back room/concert hall is up ahead, and if you spin around to look at the wall behind you, you'll see bagpipes, bowed psalteries, some washboards, a couple of vintage lap steel guitars, an electric ukulele and an oud (among other things).

Here's a good look at one end of our back room/concert hall (not currently in concert mode). In the right side of your picture, you can just see a corner of the stage at the other end of the room, but not very well, 'cause it's got guitars on it and in front of it. Behind you, there are a few celtic harps, and, of course, more guitars.

This is the business end of our back room/concert hall (again, not in concert mode) where you'll find our stage and most of the electric guitars. Directly on your left is the sound room, and stacked carefully against the sound room wall is a portion of the luxurious seating accomodations we provide for our patrons. Don't worry, we've got cushions.

There's actually lots more to see here, but that's all the 360-degree photos we have so far. Hopefully, you now have a better insight into the finely organized chaos that is McCabe's.

Rest assured, however, that the next time you pay us a visit, everything we've just shown you will have been moved somewhere else in the building. See you then!
